December |
| Dec. 1st | Chores were done, and the three books I ordered are on their way! |
Dec. 2nd | Drank a Dunkin's mint coffee, it feels more caffeinated than an energy drink. I'm still going, no drop yet, but I think it'll taper off rather than have me crash. |
Dec. 3rd | Smooth day, I'm scheduled to hike tomorrow for work and scared it'll be canceled because of the weather. Hopefully not though! |
Dec. 4th | The hike wasn't canceled! It was a little cold at first but the trail and walking a calm dog made it feel better. My favorite dog was over the top, and the guy handling him didn't understand anchoring (despite saying so lol), so unfortunately because of his energy, he was corrected by the dog I was walking. Overall, not too bad, but it is shocking to people to see how dogs naturally correct one another. |
Dec. 5th | One of the best perks of my profession is seeing dogs show their true personalities. A dog in the suite I work has been shut down, but after seeing her littermate for a short play date, opened up and has begun to ask for affection. She's young, still jumps, but I'll take bad manners over a bad attitude! |
Dec. 6th | Very happy to have finally ended my week. My Russian, Python and Javascript textbooks came in this week, and I intend to start on the Russian one right away. |
Dec.7th | All chores done, and I've started another blanket with the yarn I have. I'm planning on it to be a radial Piet Mondrian-inspired blanket. |
| Dec. 8th | Cleaned my mini PC this morning so I can play the Sims with relative ease. Another easy day. I may mess around with my site if I get bored. |
Dec. 9th | My shift this week has me on the medical side, but my suite is empty save one dog and 5 pups inside. Should be smooth! |
Dec. 10th | Been going over why we don't euthanize for one bite but three, and while I think one bite should be the limit (the dog has now shown us it will bite and sees it as a tool to get their way), it has to be three to gauge the situations the dog is in. |
Dec. 11th | Morning meeting tomorrow... I do think it's related to euthansia and dogs, specifically over the whys and hows for working with dogs that are being assessed. Still scary, I'm hoping none of us are in trouble for... not wanting to work with the main dog this is about. |
Dec. 12th | It was about euthanasia! Nothing major, just going over why we have a three bite rule (bites in the US are often more situational than anything else). We also discussed euthanasia for parvo cases, which I did tear up over when talking about the dog I liked who had to be put down due to the pain she was in. Overall, a good meeting. I also have a dog that's very... fearful for lack of a better word. He's insanely stressed and covered in diarrhea, so this afternoon I need to wash him. |
Dec. 13th | The poodle mix today is doing much better, fast movements being his trigger. He does pee in fear/submission upon meeting new people, but no interest in cats or puppies, so I'm sure in time he'll open up and show us his true self. I'm also meeting my partner tomorrow in a town halfway between us for brunch to celebrate his first solo cross country trip! |
Dec. 14th | My partner and I met for brunch, enjoying steak and grilled chicken respectively. Afterwards, we got my oil changed, then roamed a home improvement store while planning our future. The coffee we got afterwards made me sick :( |
| Dec. 15th | Spent the day ill with a stomachache. |
Dec. 16th | Spent the day home with a stomachache that finally went away. |
Dec. 17th | All the pups with parvo are alive, a smooth if boring day. |
Dec. 18th | Office christmas party today, ended with everyone having at least one beer before heading back, but everything was done on time. |
Dec. 19th | Working with a fearful chihuahua, when he's comfortable he's a perfect lap dog, currently walking around my office playing with a squeaky toy. I'm thinking of reworking Lukomorye, though we'll see how that goes. |
Dec. 20th | I lost all notes on Lukomorye when I switched to Linux, and while I am upset, this did give me a chance to rework the map. I've decided the continent will be in the southern hemisphere. |
Dec. 21st | Since starting to rework the map, I'm taking into considerations 1. time periods and their economies 2. how these might function under the rules of the Forgotten Realms (its what I and my players "know") 3. ways to sneak in proto- and utopian-socialism. |
| Dec. 22nd | Most of today was spent placing images/photos in picture frames and hanging them. The living room is clean and far more cozy than I had imagined it would. Maybe tomorrow after work I'll do more. |
Dec. 23rd | Came home and rested, having to dog sit until the 27th. |
Dec. 24th | While isolated, holidays are spent working for me, and I don't celebrate Christmas anyways. It's simply nice to be able to go to work for an hour, do suite duty, then head home until 4. |
Dec. 25th | Today was the same as yesterday, with the dogs I'm looking after actually greeting me rather than running away. |
Dec. 26th | I was thinking about Hamilton the musical, and after a relisten, there's a lot I want to explore about it (historical inaccuraties and it's bleak political message) but we'll see if I actually write about it. |
Dec. 27th | I'm planning the perfect sandwich for my birthday, with toasted sourdough bread, a runny egg, provolone cheese, some red onion slices, turkey, chives, lettuce, mayonnaise and mustard. Fairly simple as far as convoluted sandwiches go, but the textures and flavors I imagine will mesh well. |
Dec. 28th | With chores completed, today has been spent relaxing and enjoying the warmth until the cold snap tomorrow. There's a chance of snow, but I'm looking forward to the ice. |
| Dec. 29th | I forgot how lonely it is to celebrate a birthday by yourself. |
Dec. 30th | Work day, easy and making some progress with Lukomorye. |
Dec. 31st | I understand why christmas and new years have the most suicides. |
